I generally like to photograph animals only in the wild, so since this is the exception, I will explain. Despite the fact that the bird was tethered, I thought it was so beautiful sitting on its owner’s knee in China. I suppose the owner was a falconer and used the bird to hunt prey, but I am not sure. He seemed very proud of the bird. I have kept the image for three years thinking I might convert it to a black-and-white with a different background. I finally got a plan and voila! I have submitted this photo to this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge hosted by Leanne Cole.
